Among the watches up for bidding, there will be a limited 1815 MOON PHASE in pink gold at tomorrow’s auction at Dr. Crott in Frankfurt. Its precise moon-phase display only needs to be corrected by one day every 1058 years. This exclusive timepiece was released on the occasion of Emil Lange’s 150th birthday in 1999.

Watch the video here! http://goo.gl/KTTQhZBlancpain made a splash at the 2015 edition of Baselworld by unveiling a contemporary and even futuristic variation of its famous tourbillon carrousel model. The new L-Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel integrates the two complications designed to increase the accuracy of a movement. This brand is the only one who daring enough to marry these two mechanisms. But until now, it was only available in very classic, traditional versions. The L-Evolution breaks the rules even with the shape of the case! Indeed, the movement was first skeletonized in an unusual and very edgy way. This makes it look more like a fractal spiderweb than any other watch on the market. The movement components were embellished with a frosted dark grey finished. In addition, and to out them in the spotlight, the cages of both the tourbillon and the carrousel were elevated a few milimeters so that they look like they come right out of the movement. The sides of the case were softened to create appropriate resonance with the design of the caliber and the hands. As an UWO – “Unknown Watch Object” – the L-Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel was disruptive. But having a deeper and closer look at it allows it to become a singular aesthetic pleasure. A cocktail reception was held on the evening of May 7th at the new Breguet Salon. VIP guests were invited to a private inauguration evening, who received a first-hand look at Breguet’s newest novelties recently launched at Baselworld.
In addition to these sneak peaks, guests also enjoyed learning about Breguet craftsmanship with a demonstration presented on a newly crafted Breguet Watchmaker’s Bench. Flown in from the Breguet Manufacture in Switzerland in time for this event, the bench is modeled after the original watchmaker’s desk used by A.-L. Breguet (1747-1823) at his famed workshop in Paris, France, dating back to 1775. This particular desk is exceptional as it is made of wood from the favorite oak tree of Queen Marie-Antoinette, one of Breguet’s most famous clients.

A tribute to naturalism and to the art of 19th century British botanical illustrations, the dials are adorned with colourful petals that appear so real that one could almost touch their rounded volumes, velvety feel or even catch a hint of their delicate scent.

Until November, they have time to come up with an original and new design solution. The winner will be announced on 7 December 2015 in Dresden after the evaluation of an expert panel of watchmakers, scientists and specialist journalists.

This year, the Reine de Naples collection welcomes two new versions: the Reine de Naples Princesse Mini models, measuring 32.7 x 27.3mm. The first version comes in a steel case with a self-winding movement. Its domed dial is in shimmering white natural mother-of-pearl, while the hour markers are in a marquetry of natural white mother-of-pearl. Another version has also been made, this time in a rose gold case. It has the same movement as the steel watch, but the domed dial is slightly different, being made of mother-of-pearl from Tahiti. Another feature exclusive to the rose gold model is that the spherical attachment of the strap is set with diamonds while the crown wears a briolette diamond.

High Technology by Breguet: Exclusive Presentation in Singapore
On Monday, May 4th and Tuesday, May 5th of 2015, the Breguet boutique in Singapore treated collectors, media and watch bloggers to cocktails, dinner, and a presentation of the exhibition “Breguet, Innovations that Wrote History…”. This retrospective, which started its world tour in 2014, is exhibiting a selection of impactful improvements by Breguet, such as the use of silicon in watchmaking and the invention of the magnetic pivot. These innovations were further explored during an exclusive technical presentation by Breguet’s Head of Research and Development Laboratory. Our F. A. Lange Scholarship & Watchmaking Excellence Award – a programme to support young watchmaking talents – is entering its 6th round. Throughout this week, 8 watchmaking students from all over the world get some first-hand insights into the fine art of precision watchmaking at A. Lange & Söhne.
At the end of this week, they will not only travel home with new impressions but also with a very challenging competition task, which will be announced on Thursday. The best construction will be awarded 10,000 euros.
